the dead of 4 scooters… the rebirth of 2 mobile artoos

25 05 2008

Well, it felt kind of strange to dismantle 4 brand new NRFB electric sccoters but afterwards you could almost imagine my little artoos up and about. Its a little while until then but because my ebay order of 4 scooters finally was delivered last week I was curious if I would have to do alot of extra work with fitting and adjusting. Wow, I couldnt have asked for a better fit. As you can see from the pictures it fits pretty good in the the foot. I’m not sure about any “official” clearing height but I think this looks perfect. I of couse will be adding an extra wheel or “caster” in there for stability, but that should fit without any real issues…I hope. Another thing was the battery power. This is a 100watt 24volt scooter with 2 12volt batteries. After i did a charge on them i noticed that it runs best on a single 12v. The 24v connection made the scooter do the 100 yard dash in 10 seconds. Not walking speed exactly…when I tried the single battery it ran pretty smooth at a reasonable speed. As i mention I have a long way to go before I have to deal with the mobile electronics but its good to know for someone else out there. By the way, the scooters only costed 35 dollars each. I wrote the seller if it was cheaper to buy 4 at the same time and he/she gave me a 25% rebatt for all 4. Good to know if anyone is thinking of getting a few at the same time ;)

The building is going well..

Wow….I havent added a post in about a month, sorry guys. However, I’ve been busy building. This past month I’ve be working on those (damn) legs. Yes, I used the 4 letter word. After trying a few paper ideas to get a feel for which way to go I desided to do the solid wooden version. The reason being is becasue its easiest to work with and i get to try out those tools I bought, way back when. They’re almost done but I thought I’m add some progress pictures. Enjoy ;)
