rear logics adjustment…

30 03 2008

This is just an adjustment in the speed setting of the rear lights, thanks jason for pointing that out. And for thoes who are wondering what the final price for all of the logics both front and rear on 2 artoos. It wasnt more than 100 dollars complete. I desided not to use those PSI flasher kits that I bought earlier and went with a custom circuit solution instead, which was more flexible and cheaper. It was pretty straight forward once I desided the best and cheapest way to go with out loosing in quality ;)

logics parts list per artoo:

  • 3 green ulta bright LEDs
  • 1 red ultra bright LED
  • 1 yellow ultra bright
  • 2 white ulta bright LEDs
  • 2 blue ultra bright LEDs
  • 6 mini circuit boards w/ adjustable speed settings
  • approx. 184 fiber optics, each at 8cm in lenght and 2,5mm in thickness

intensive work right now…

I’ve been working intensively but will be waiting until i get a little breather before I add any resent progress pictures. I can show this much anyway. This is my rear logic that I tested earlier today. It runs on 108 (8 cm long X 2.5mm thick) fiber optics. I only needed 4 LEDs for it. I melted the tips to make them appear ball-like. I heard of others using 1mm thick fibers and melting 3 together. I felt that my way was much quicker and easier to keep in order. I figured out that I’ll be using about 100 feet of fiber optic cable to complete 2 artoos.

nope haven’t fallen off the earth or something…

23 03 2008

I had to take a few weeks off from building because of travelling and such. But, this time the trip was R2 related. First I visited the The Franklin Institute Science Museum Star Wars / Science exhibit in Philadelphia. Very very cool display! I also took the time to visit the local R2 builders Club in Washington DC, R2DC Builders Club. They are a very impressive group of people with a genuine hospitality that I have never come acrossed before. Because, I travel back and forth to DC I desided to join their club, because at present Sweden doesn’t have any such club and I’m the only builder in Sweden as well. I even figured out the I but be the closest build to the north pole circle, lol. Anyway, it was a very inspiring evening and I can’t wait to get back to my building when I return back home next week. At present my next scheduled visit to DC will be in December, can’t wait!
